Plant Protection Protect your more frost sensitive plants with a spray of Yates Droughtshield which puts a protective, polymer film over the surface of the leaf. Light fabrics are also available as a frost protection.
Move potted plants that hate the cold such as Mandevilla up against masonry walls where radiant heat will keep them looking better for longer. These plants also tend to suffer if you are watering too frequently through the cooler months as it makes the plants colder.
Avoid cutting shrubs and hedges back whilst there are frosts as the foliage exposed is generally softer and more likely to burn with frost.
Damaged Plants If your plants have been burnt-back by frost avoid the temptation to cut the damaged leaves off as they will offer protection to the leaves and stems below which should hopefully not be affected. Once the fear of frosts has passed in spring, remove this damaged foliage and feed to induce new growth.
