This dwarf blue dianella called 'Little Rev' gives a new look to the grass-like Dianella revoluta. This new hybrid looks better, is more uniform in size, is very blue and is extremely tough. 'Little Rev' grows to approximately 30-40cm tall with a spread of 30-35cm. Used as a garden border as it makes a fine edging plant.
Other varieties of dianella are well worth trying, all clump-forming perennials: Border Gold, Border Silver, Border Emerald. All three forms have distinctive linear foliage and dainty, star-shaped purple blue flowers in early summer.
With its low maintenance, dry tolerance and striking foliage, it makes a bold impact when mass planted.
The Gold form loves a shady position, whereas the Silver and Jade variety can have either full sun or shade. Little Rev performs best in a sunny garden.
