Eucalyptus caesia 'Silver Princess'

Eucalyptus caesia 'Silver Princess' is a quick growing graceful tree with a profusion of deep pink flowers and silvery white urn shaped pods. We found it growing and flowering in the Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens overlooking the harbour. Growing to about 5m with long weeping branches it has stunning silvery-white trunks. One of the most beautiful of all the eucalypts.

Use in the garden
This pendulous tree can be used as a single speciman or grove with a few planted together to give a natural bushland feel. Mass plant grasses (we like Lomandra 'Silver Grace') beneath, add a Grass tree and you've got yourself a fairdinkum bush garden. It can also be grown in a large tub such as a half wine barrel.

Growing from Seed
Recently we have had success with germinating some from seed (available from Mr Fothergill's). The small seedlings germinate inside under a grow light in our kitchen. Sow seeds in warm areas anytime, fill seed raising pots with moist sandy soil, sow seeds on surface and very lightly cover with more sandy seed raising mix. We recommend increasing your chance of success by sprinkling Wildflower Starter granules over the seeds (available from Mr Fothergill's as an alternative to smokey water). Do not allow the soil to become too moist as seedlings will rot. They need warm shade to germinate fully.
