Wollemi Pine (Wollemia nobilus) Since it was discovered in 1994, the endangered Wollemi Pine has been the focus of intense interest. With less than 100 trees in the wild, the cultivated specimens on public display in the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney and other botanic gardens around Australia have been behind bars to protect them from unauthorised propagation and sale. This Australian native conifer, closely related to the Araucaria (Norfolk Island Pine), come with authentication certificate, label and care booklet.
Description Blue-green ferny foliage makes this a very unusual looking conifer.
Care A position with part shade is ideal, they will tolerate full sun if given time to adjust to the light level. If put directly into full sun, the foliage may become yellow. Wollemi Pines will tolerate cold weather and will thrive in a wide range of climatic zones. Only water when soil is dry.
Did you know? Wollemi pines will sometimes leak a jelly sap from their trunks or branches before a new shoot appears.
