Background

In addition to employment, the Nursery provides work experience, traineeships and apprenticeships, and supports school programs and community activities, such as visits from groups of people with disability

The Nursery has been nominated for a number of nursery industry awards including being named as a finalist in the Best Large Production Nursery in NSW/ACT category for the 2011 Nursery and Gardening Awards. It is accredited under the Nursery Industry Australia (NIASA) Guidelines for production nurseries and is externally accredited for the 12 Commonwealth Disability Standards for the employment of people with disabilities.

The nursery is also dedicated to limiting its environmental footprint. It has received support from the State and Federal Governments through the Jobs Fund, the Climate Change Fund and the Community Building Partnership Program to support the expansion and upgrade of the nursery and to improve its sustainability. The nursery is now very close to coming off town water thanks to capital works to recycle and re-use water from a dam that was recently remediated using part of these funds.
