Chestnut Blight Australia's Chestnut industry is facing a major disaster in the form of a fungal disease know as Chestnut Blight. Over 4,000 trees from North-East Victoria will be removed by the Department of Primary Industries in an attempt to stop the spread of infection. Up to %80 of Australia's Chestnut Industry is based in this area, Chestnut blight has the potential to topple the entire industry. Some farmers have already lost their entire Orchards to Chestnut blight, and there could be more to come. This disease has previously decimated the Chestnut industry in the USA and much of Europe.
