Free! Living Colour plant giveaway this Sunday

Free! Living Colour plant giveaway this Sunday

Brighten up your garden and add a splash of colour to your balcony with a free plant from the City of Sydney.

More than 10,000 plants from Living Colour, the City’s stunning spring floral display, will be given away this weekend.

Living Colour’s twice-yearly floral exhibition is 100 per cent recycled, with all plants either given away, replanted into City parks or composted.

The current Living Colour display has been on show for the past eight weeks - it was themed to celebrate Sydney's bike network, part of an integrated transport system that is reducing traffic congestion and pollution as well as promoting better health for all Sydneysiders.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore said these displays have added colour to our City for eight weeks.

"Now people have a great chance to get marigolds, pansies, petunias, Vietnamese mint and other free plants to brighten their garden bed or balcony.”

People can pick up plants from Cathedral Square in front of St Mary's Cathedral from 8am on Sunday 6 November.

Some plants will also be available from neighbourhood centres at Glebe, Redfern and Kings Cross, Town Hall House while stocks last.

Large plants and perennial plants will be replanted in the City's parks, while plants not suitable for giving away or replanting are composted into a high quality soil mix for use in the City's parks and gardens. The current Living Colour displays were extended for a fortnight because the plants were still thriving and looking good.
