* Keep feeding tomato plants, we like Harvest from Amgrow as it keeps them healthy the organic way. In fact we feed all our vegetables with Harvest every 10 days.
* Keep rainbow chard, spinach and rhubarb well fed, this way you'll prevent caterpillars the natural way. Keep harvesting leaves from outside to encourage new ones.
* Sow beans on a trellis, tall growing varieties like Blue Lake, Giant of Stuttgart, Snake, and Purple Kind need 2 - 3m of vertical space to grow.
* Sow zucchini and squash seeds. Sow 3 seeds in a cluster then later pick out the weakest seedling.
* Plant chillis in full sun, plant 3 varieties in a large pot and you'll have plenty of choice.
* Cut off strawberry runners and plant them elsewhere. After 3 years the mother plant can be disgarded. Strawberries need rasied beds, mulch and bird netting.
* Spray citrus with pest or eco oil to prevent Citrus leaf minor, which shows itself as squiggly lines in the leaves. Use Confidor to control stink bugs (bronze orange bugs).
* Group herbs with similar water needs, mediteranean herbs such as rosemary, thyme, tarragon, oregano and sage all need less water than parsley, coriander, basil, chives, chervil and rocket.
* Try planting sweet potato tubers, cut off bottom of tuber in a shallow tray of water before planting, this way you'll get roots before planting.
* Keep sowing salad greens directly in the garden and you'll be picking leaves all summer long.
* Start to rig up bird netting over your fig tree. A framework might be needed to support the bird netting.
* Keep hilling up potatoes, this means gently mound up soil on top of leaf growth. Watch out for the dreaded 28 spot ladybeetle - they do lots of damage to potato leaves and should be picked off and squahed.
