Summer Lawn tips

* Water once a month (greywater from the laundry is perfect) giving your lawn a deep soak with added seaweed to strengthen grass and help it withstand drought.

* Sprinkle wetting agent over your lawn to help it absorb water.

* Cover bare patches with compost (or soil conditioner) to encourage good coverage.

* Don't scalp your lawn with lawn mower. Mow once a week and raise the blade.

* Don't feed your lawn in hot dry weather; wait until autumn when the weather cools.

* Army worm causes brown patches in lawns. Grass dies off as the worm spreads rapidly though the root area of turfed areas.
To check for the presense of Army worm, place a hessian bag on your lawn over night. Army worm (really a caterpillar) will crawl up into the bag. Empty a bucket of soapy water into the affected area and see if any of them come to the surface

* Keep your lawn longer in summer.

* When laying a new lawn, consider the installation of drip irrigation first. We like Netafim

* Keep your lawn healthy (well fed) and it will never be infested with weeds.

* Sprinkle wetting agent such as Wettasoil, now enriched with seaweed extract, willimprove water penetration and assist lawn growth.

* Consider hiring a professional to care for your lawn. They come monthly to feed and weed your lawn leaving the lawn problem free and healthy.
We like Lawn Green.
