Canna lily
Canna Lily
Bold and beautiful foliage and bright colourful flowers give a tropical look to your garden. Tall dense clumps of large fabulous foliage make perfect screens and backdrops. Best planted in large clumps for bold effect and just below soil surface. In cool areas canna will die back in winter then re-grow once warm weather returns. Flowering season in cool climates is summer to autumn. In warm climates they flower from spring to autumn. Plant them in full sun for maximum flowers.

Size: Some hybrids grow to 2m and spread 80 cm.

Care: Give them plenty of water and food over summer, and remove spent flowers. Keep them mulched with manure and feed in spring. Clumps can be lifted and divided from winter to early spring but may be left undisturbed for years. When dividing, cut the root (rhizome) into sections with at least one good bud per section. Watch for slugs and snails and control these if necessary.
