Polyanthus (Primula x polyantha) Description Polyanthus are flowering annuals that thrive through the cooler weather. They are actually a Primula but the name Polyanthus is usually used to describe the deep coloured, shorter stemmed varieties. Polyanthus are hard to beat for concentrated colour, with their small but vibrantly coloured blooms. Care Polyanthus like a rich, mildly acidic soil which is well drained but never dry. Give them filtered sunshine and a regular water with Harvest or Thrive for Flowering Plants. Remove spent flowers regularly to keep them blooming right through winter. uses Polyanthus are perfect for the potted garden but are also suitable to planting in well prepared beds. A windowsill planting will brighten up even the dullest winter day.
