      Spring feed for magnolias      

Description

After magnolias have flowered it's important to reward them by giving them a special feed.

Our special recipe includes: 5 bags of well composted cow manure, 3 cups of dolomite, 3 cups of blood and bone & 3 cups of sulfate of potash & 5 cups of Seamungus. Spread this out around the drip line of your magnolia at a depth of 10cm (4 inches).

If, over the last 5 years, your magnolia has struggled with the dry weather you can repeat this again in autumn. There are a few important things to remember with magnolias; 1. Do not use lime or chicken manure around them, 2. they have shallow roots very near the surface of the soil so they dry out quicker than most trees and need to be mulched thinkly and 3. late afternoon summer sun will always burn the leaves, this will not affect flowering.
