Build your pea and broad bean trellis now. Sandra and Linda completed theirs last week, and this week we are planting our bean and pea seeds.
Now its stopped raining you can plant legumes: broad beans, peas (podded, snow and sugarsnap) and sweet peas!
Caterpillar activity increases in April so watch young cabbages and broccoli for caterpillars, spray with Yates Success. Band White Cedar to stop the procession of caterpillars. Protect young trees from defoliation by wrapping hessian around the trunk for the caterpillars to congregate in during the day. Check regularly and destroy.

Feed citrus with a good pelletised manure as the fruit will be developing throughout autumn and winter.
Trim back Chinese star jasmine.
Liquid feed dahlias to prolong flowering. Tie in new flowering shoots to support stakes.

Dig, divide and replant tall bearded iris.
