Bird attracting plants
This week, why not select some plants to grow which will attract birds to your garden? It's great to wake up to the song of native birds of a morning, and its relaxing to sit and watch them enjoy all the yummy food you have provided.

To attract birds to your garden, you don't have to fill it with Grevilleas, they are great for nectar eaters, but different species of birds have different diets. It's a good idea to plant a wide range of natives which produce nectar, seeds, fruit and nuts to attract birds.

Some plants which provide these foods are..

Lillypilly species - The brightly coloured fruit of the lillypilly attracts fruit eating birds.(Syzygium 'Bush Christmas' is a favourite)

Wattle Species - Some birds love to eat wattle seed, why not try various species of Acacia to attract birds.

Leptospermum - Producing nectar and attracting insects which will attract insect eating birds, a double whammy!

Casuarina - Produce an abundance of seeds which attract black Cockatoos, Lorikeets, Galahs and various finch species.

Callistemon - Producing nectar and seeds, a favourite of Lorikeets.

Kangaroo Paw - Will attract seed and nectar eaters

Floweing Gums - Plenty of Nectar

Austromyrtus dulcis - Another fruit bearing plant
