What to plant in July
Magnolias:
Deciduous magnolias make a fabulous specimen in full flower. There are many hybrids available. All of them need an open sunny space to develop their broad domed crown. Good rich soil is essential, well drained. Allow your magnolia to grow and never prunt it. The Ulan magnolia (Magnolia denudata syn M.heptapeta) has pure white goblet-shaped flowers on its bare branches that emerge from grey furry buds.

Camellias:
C. reticulata 'Grand Marshall' …. Full ruffled crimson
C. japonica 'Great Eastern'
C. reticulata 'Bob Hope'
Camellia hybrid 'Fairy Wand' …prolific buds, ready to flower, single deep red, good weeping form, good for espalier.

Spring Blossom Trees:
Cherries

Cercis 'Forest Pansy' Small tree to 5 x 5m cerise flowers early spring, good autumn heart shaped foliage
Crabapples: Malus 'Eleyi' 3m x 3m crimsom flower
'Tom Matthews'
'Ioensis Plena' ruffled double pale-pink flower in spring
Peaches and Plums in full bud ready to explode into flower
