Autumn is planting time and there are a huge variety of perennials to plant, they are tolerant of dry conditions and a mass of flower. Try the following perennials in your garden; Easter daisy (Perennial Aster), salvia (perennial), iris, cranesbill, canna, echinaceae, euphorbia, campanula, artemesia, scabiosa and veronica.
Plant spring flowering bulbs: Daffodil, hyacinth, freesia, tulip (need 6 weeks in the frig), Dutch iris, muscari &, snow drops. Tulips can be planted from now onward, remember they need 6 weeks in the crisper before planting. other bulbs can also be planted now: daffodils, jonquils and freesias are great for Sydney.

Weeping japanese maples (Acer palmatum 'Dissectum') are so delicate and soft textured. Choose the weeping varieties for pots and in the garden. The purple leafed varieties are particularly beautiful.
Maidenhair Tree (Gingko biloba) turns buttercup yellow in autumn. The upright form 'Winter Gold' is better for domestic gardens.
