If spring flowers can't get you excited at this time of year - we are not sure what will! Spring has sprung and there is one way to add a dash of perfume to the air and that is by having blossom trees and shrubs in the garden. Gone are the days where the garden is full of boring foliage plants, old fashioned flower plants are coming back into vogue. And although they only flower for a month or two in spring, you'll be waiting for them to flower year after year!
Crabapple: Malus 'Cinderella' Malus ioensis 'Plena' (Betchel Crab) - our favourite due to its large buds and double petals. Malus floribunda (Japanese crabapple)
Spring Flowering Shrubs: Add some volumn in with some of the lovely old fashioned shrubs that flower in early spring. Viburnums - all types particularly V. opulus and V. 'Mariesii' (pictured) Mock Orange (Philadelphus) Wedding Bells (Deutzia) - in full bud this is a spectacular old fasnhioned shrub that deserves a speail spot in the garden. May Bush (Spiraea) - arching shrub with white flower clusters all along branches.
Weigela - comes in four varieites: crimson, pink, white and pink with variegated foliage
