Thrips suck and rasp at flower petals causing discolouration. They are tiny and hard to see, but tapping a flower onto a blank piece of paper will alert
you to their presence. Thrips fly in on the easterly breeze and can be controlled by a jet of water into the foliage or with a spray of Pyrethrum.
