How to: make 'Grassy Heads'
Photo - Linda Ross
You will need:
old nylon tights or stockings
seed-raising mix, vermiculite or cotton wool
elastic bands, ‘googly eyes’, pipe cleaners, PVA glue, buttons and ribbons
empty margarine or yoghurt container
Yates Patch Repair grass seed
Here’s how to do it:
Cut a 25-30cm length from the nylon tights and tie a knot in one end.
Turn the tights inside out and place a hand full of grass seeds inside.
Fill up the rest with seed raising mix, vermiculite or cotton wool and tie a knot in the top.
Pinch out some ears and a nose and secure with an elastic band.
Glue on some eyes, a mouth and even some glasses!
Wait for the glue to dry then place it upright in a container in a warm place.
Water lightly each day – and in two weeks it should need a haircut! The grass will grow back and then you can give it another trim every two to three weeks for the grooviest hairdo around!
