Potted: Fuchsia

A front door with an easterly aspect is the perfect position for fuchsias, which love morning sun, but can’t cope with an afternoon blast from the west. Fuchsia ‘Winston Churchill’ is an old favourite with hooped petticoats of magenta and ruffles of pink petals. Grow as a ballerina standard and shape the plant by tip pruning. Underplant with bacopa, woodland cyclamen or viola. To share with friends, or increase your stock, take 10cm cuttings in late summer. Keep cuttings warm, shaded and just moist at all times.
