Potted: Tillsandia cyanea

The flowers of this bromeliad are odd enough to stop people in their tracks. Lollipop-like pink and purple heads explode from a rosette of arching, tough, grass-like leaves. Tillandsias can be grown on trees, mounted onto slabs of timber, or planted into hanging baskets. In pots, plant into a very open mix, such as an orchid compost. Grow them in a spot with plenty of light, not necessarily in full sun, with high humidity and good air circulation. Mist regularly if kept indoors.
