Q: I’ve got a problem with my avocados. This is the first year I’ve got a decent crop, however the majority of them are flawed. What’s happened to them? What can I do to prevent this happening? Also, any quick methods for ripening them?

A: Looks like birds or bats have been enjoying your fruit. In future, net the trees to prevent the birds or bats from accessing your fruit. Birds attack during the day and bats active at night. Some have found the Pestrol Possum Away Repeller works well.
As for ripening avocados, place fruit in a paper bag. The fruit naturally emits ethylene gas which hastens the ripening process. Alternatively, place fruit on a windowsill or warm cupboard will also help fruit to ripen. Avoid refrigeration a sit slows down the ripening process.
