What's inside?

A big welcome to the winter edition of the Journal.
Once again our team has been busy gathering interesting, helpful and exciting stories for you to enjoy. They have found some irresistible new plants and products to try; and some wonderful garden ideas and solutions from the professionally designed private gardens that were on show in the Hidden Garden Festival in March. You’ll be inspired!

And there are some wonderful people to meet, including third-generation citrus nurseryman, Mark Engall; landscape master Michael Bates; and my horticultural colleague Stuart Pittendrigh, who has been consulting on the impressive gardens at Barangaroo, which will open to the public this winter. Make sure you go and check them out. You’ll also meet the irrepressible Mickey Robertson and find out what she does, and what she loves, in her garden in winter.

And being winter, we take a good look at some cold-loving stars of the garden, including orchids, deciduous magnolias, hellebores, oranges and broccoli.
