Can you please identify this weed and advise how to prevent it from spreading further? What weed killer I should use and when should I start treatment? My lawn is a mix of buffalo and kikuyu.

ANSWER
The weed in your lawn is a native grass called wavy grass or basket grass (Oplismenus hirtellus). It is often found growing in moist areas. Unfortunately, there is no selective chemical control for this weed in your lawn. You can try hand removal or organic weedkillers but take care when spraying as the products can burn the lawn too
