QUESTION
I remember seeing your photographs of the zinnias you grew last year, am I too late?

ANSWER
The zinnias were the German Benary series from Lambley’s Nursery, but due to global supply issues, they are no longer available. Lambley do have other excellent zinnia selections in their online catalogue so get your skates on to get them ordered and sown now (and until November in cooler climates). Mr Fothergill’s also has a good selection. You can sow the seeds direct into the garden (preferred) or into small pots to start them. I place a half an eggcup of seed raising mix in mounds 25cm apart for sowing direct. Keep just moist. Thin out to 2-3 seedlings and watch them grow. They will flower until autumn.
