What's inside?

A special greeting to the hundreds of new members across Australia who have recently joined Garden Clinic. Welcome!

Take a breather and cool down indoors or under shade with this issue of the magazine. There’s plenty to enjoy, inspire and learn! Our feature gardens come from far afield this issue, with a romantic cottage garden filled with flowers just outside London, and a garden of homemade sculpture and wonderful subtropical plants in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Inside these pages you’ll also meet some fascinating people: Professor Steve Hopper, who left his job as Director of Kew Gardens to return to Albany in the south-west of western Australia to further his research into the area’s incredible biodiversity; Lynne Walker, one of the dedicated volunteers who turned an Armidale woman’s collection of more than 800 roses into New England’s only public heritage rose garden; and Alex Elliott-Howery whose passion to avoid waste led to a unique relationship between a café and its customers.

You’ll also find all you need to know to grow kangaroo paws, potatoes and cucumber, and learn which hibiscus is best for which garden, and how to finally get rid of that pesky oxalis.

From all of the team at your Garden Clinic Club, we hope you get a moment to relax with family and friends over this holiday season. Best wishes for Christmas!
